What is Getting Ahead?
Getting Ahead is a community of people who will support and challenge you as you envision a better future. It begins with a 12-week work group that investigates:
The impact poverty has had on you
How to build your personal resources
How to move through the stages of change
Ways to open doors for work
How to budget your money
How to build your personal resources
Interest free loans are available for Getting Ahead participants through the Pay it Forward program. Participants can move toward achieving their goals and build positive credit at the same time with affordable loans and no interest charges.
Program Goals and Expected Outcomes
The goal of the Getting Ahead program is to empower participants to take meaningful steps toward stability and independence. Through the program, individuals are encouraged to set goals, develop strategies, and build confidence in their ability to move forward.
Participants often leave the program with a clearer vision for their future, stronger support systems, and practical tools to navigate challenges.
Getting Ahead meets every Thursday from 6-8pm at Gobin Church and includes a free meal and childcare.
